HIKING

Area Camper Barcelona Beach is at the foot of Burriac mountain with its medieval castle and fantastic panoramas. It's easy to access and worth the hike!

We recommend two routes:

Font Picant to Burriac Castle
  • Characteristics: circuit hike
  • Distance: 4 km
  • Ascent: 296 m
  • Difficulty: low (family friendly)

Burriac Castle is a strategic enclave that looks out over the surrounding lands. It is 401 metres tall and 3,500 metres from the sea. We reach the castle from Font Picant fountain, following the old path up to the medieval castle, where we walk between holm oaks, heather, strawberry trees, stone pines and Aleppo pines.

There are information panels near Burriac Castle that explain the area's history and we can enjoy 360º views of Maresme's coastline, Serralada de Marina mountain chain, Montnegre-Corredor and Montseny nature parks, Turó de l’Home hill, Matagalls mountain and Bertí cliffs.

The descent is on a wide, steep path with some stretches covered in vegetation and others covered in granite with several viewpoints. At the end of the route, we discover the Creu de l’Abella cross, where we can see Les Banyadores and Cabrera de Mar town.

Torre Ametller to Burriac Castle
  • Characteristics: circuit hike
  • Distance: 6.3 km
  • Ascent: 400 m
  • Difficulty: moderate

Burriac Castle is a strategic enclave that looks out over the surrounding lands. It is 401 metres tall and 3,500 metres from the sea. We start the route at Santa Elena d’Agell chapel and Cals Frares masia farm. We go onto a track that is closed off by a chain and pass the wonderful Torre Ametller tower, surrounded by stone pines and granite formations. The castle is in view throughout the hike.

When we reach the Coll de Codera col, we continue around 100 metres and take a pleasant track to our left that leads us to Burriac castle, a watchtower with 360º views of Maresme's coastline, Serralada de Marina mountain chain, Montnegre-Corredor and Montseny nature parks, Turó de l’Home hill, Matagalls mountain and Bertí cliffs.

We can take the same path back to Torre Ametller tower or we can choose steep downhill paths with some slightly rocky stretches until Pedrera d’en Serra quarry. From here, we continue along the path that leads us to Pedra de Punsola stone and back to the Torre Ametller tower, where we follow track to the car park.
